Paediatric Ward

Our bright, child-friendly, eight bed paediatric ward provides all round and specialised care for babies and children up to the age of 12.

Overview

Our skilled and experienced paediatric team promotes a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for children and their carers throughout their stay.

Every effort is made to maintain as normal an environment as possible for the children. There is a special play area set aside within the ward.
The safety and security of your child is of utmost importance to us therefore access to the paediatric unit is controlled. We also want to ensure a safe, peaceful and healthy environment for your child so please maintain good hand hygiene and observe social distancing throughout the hospital. These will all help us reduce the risks to other patients, visitors and our staff.
We find that children often cope much better with a hospital stay if they have been prepared beforehand. There are many books about coming into hospital, particularly for younger children. You can also arrange to bring your child to the ward for a visit before admission – we would love to meet you and show you around.
There are beds available for one parent to stay overnight with their child.
If you are staying with your child, we hope you will feel free to carry out the usual care for them that you would at home, such as washing, dressing, feeding and play.
