Prof Kyei had his medical school education at the University of Ghana Medical School, graduating with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) on October 1998, and completing his Housemanship rotations in Child health and surgery in October 1999.
He was a medical officer at the Department of Surgery Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and then resident in Urology graduating with Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in 2008.
He also had Fellowship in Urology oncology at the Tygerberg Hospital, Stellenbosch University in Cape Town in 2009 and the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel, in 2015.
Prof Kyei is involved in medical education, being an Associate Professor of Surgery, at the University of Ghana Medical School and been a member of the Faculty of Surgery Academics Boards of the Ghana College of Surgeons and Physicians and the West African College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Societe Internationale d’Urologie (SIU). He has been on committees that set guidelines and set standards for urology practice in Ghana. He has about 40 publications in urology and surgery in peer review Journals.
He has experience in managing general urology cases – both open and laparoscopic, endo-urology- transurethral resections, and urinary stone management, and urology oncology such as surgeries for kidney, bladder and prostate cancers with experience spanning two decades.
