CCTV and Control Room Officer
Reports to: Security Manager
Role Summary:
The CCTV and Control Room Officer will be responsible for monitoring and operating the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, ensuring the security of the premises by detecting and responding to suspicious activities, and coordinating with the security team to maintain a safe and secure environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in security operations, excellent observational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
CCTV Monitoring and Surveillance:
- Operate and monitor all CCTV systems within the Control Room in an efficient manner, ensuring that all cameras are functioning correctly and capturing clear images.
- Monitor live footage and recorded video feeds for any suspicious or unusual activities across the facility.
- Report any security breaches, incidents, or irregularities to the Security Manager or designated personnel immediately.
- Ensure that all recorded footage is stored securely and can be retrieved when required for investigations.
Incident Response and Reporting:
- Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents by coordinating with on-site security personnel and emergency services if necessary.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all incidents, observations, and actions taken during each shift.
- Provide accurate and timely reports of security incidents to the Security Manager for further action.
- Assist in gathering evidence and compiling reports for use in legal or disciplinary actions.
Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with the on-ground security team, providing real-time updates and information on potential security threats or incidents.
- Coordinate with external emergency services, such as police, fire departments, and medical personnel, when required.
- Ensure that all communication systems in the Control Room are operational and that all staff are trained in their use.
System Maintenance and Management:
- Regularly check and test the functionality of the CCTV system, including cameras, recording devices, monitors, and related equipment.
- Report any technical issues or malfunctions to the appropriate department for prompt resolution.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working condition and that any faults are addressed without delay.
Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies regarding the use of CCTV and the handling of surveillance footage.
- Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality regarding surveillance operations, footage, and security procedures.
- Ensure that all data and information collected through CCTV monitoring are stored and used in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Training and Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated on the latest security protocols and technology.
- Assist in training new Control Room staff on the use of CCTV systems and the standard operating procedures of the Control Room.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably in a control room or CCTV monitoring environment.
- Strong knowledge of CCTV systems, surveillance technology, and control room operations.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain focused for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations regarding CCTV use and data privacy.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree / High school diploma or equivalent; additional security-related certifications are an advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL)
- 3 years experience in a security role, preferably in a control room or CCTV monitoring environment.
