Intensivist
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and other life-threatening conditions.
- Conduct thorough assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning for patients admitted to the ICU, incorporating advanced diagnostic techniques and imaging studies as needed.
- Perform and oversee invasive procedures commonly performed in the ICU, such as endotracheal intubation, central venous catheterization, arterial line placement, and bedside ultrasonography.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and scholarly activities aimed at advancing critical care practice and enhancing patient safety and outcomes.
- Act rapidly and effectively, manage self, patients, and other employees, during an emergency.
- Optimize mechanical ventilation settings, hemodynamic support, and other therapeutic interventions based on individual patient needs and evolving clinical circumstances.
- Lead daily multidisciplinary rounds with ICU team members, including nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, to review patient status, develop care plans, and coordinate treatment strategies
- Participate in code blue responses, rapid response activations, and other emergent situations requiring critical care expertise.
- Provide education, training, and mentorship to medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare providers rotating through the ICU.
- Be available for on-call duties

Experience Requirement
- Minimum of a Doctor of Medicine degree (MBCHB) plus Registration and License to Practice.
- Must be a member of a recognized medical council / professional body.
- Must have a minimum five (5) years post specialization experience.
- Board certification or eligibility in critical care medicine or a related specialty (e.g., pulmonary medicine, anaesthesia, emergency medicine).
