Security Manager
Reports to: Chief Operations Manager
Supervises: Security Officers, CCTV and Control Room Officer
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Security Manager with a background in a hospital setting to oversee and manage all security operations within our healthcare facility. The Security Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and hospital property. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of hospital security protocols, emergency response, risk management, and quality assurance in security operations.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
Security Operations Management:
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive security policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the hospital environment.
- Oversee daily security operations, including patrolling, monitoring surveillance systems, and controlling access to the facility.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency services as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all legal regulations and hospital policies regarding safety and security.
Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks related to theft, violence, and other security threats.
- Manage the hospital’s incident reporting system, ensuring all security incidents are documented, investigated, and resolved promptly.
Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop, implement, and regularly update the hospital’s emergency response and disaster preparedness plans.
- Conduct drills and training sessions for staff to ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios, including active shooter situations, fire, and natural disasters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during security-related emergencies, coordinating the response and communication efforts.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of security personnel, ensuring they are equipped to handle the unique challenges of a hospital environment.
- Develop and implement ongoing training programs focused on healthcare security, patient interaction, and crisis management.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and take corrective actions as necessary.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with hospital administration, clinical staff, and other departments to ensure security measures align with the hospital’s operational needs.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and provide input on security-related matters.
- Maintain open lines of communication with all hospital staff regarding security updates, policies, and procedures.
Technology and Surveillance:
- Manage and maintain the hospital’s security technology systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
- Stay informed on the latest security technologies and make recommendations for upgrades or new installations.
- Ensure that all security equipment is functioning correctly and that any malfunctions are promptly addressed.
Quality Assurance in Security Operations:
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes to monitor and improve the effectiveness of security operations.
- Regularly review and update security procedures to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess the performance and reliability of security personnel and systems.
- Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives based on audit findings and incident reports.
Budgeting and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the security department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Oversee the procurement and maintenance of security equipment and supplies.
- Optimize staffing levels to balance security needs with cost-effectiveness.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Strong knowledge of hospital security protocols, emergency response procedures, risk management strategies, and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in security technology systems, including surveillance and access control.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) certification or equivalent (preferred).
WORK EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, with at least 3 years in a hospital or healthcare setting.
