Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Nursing Unit Managers / Nursing Team

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage the nursing team to ensure that all required nursing processes and standards are maintained, and objectives met.
  • Provide an expert level of strategic and operational leadership across nursing and the wider hospital and steer the successful achievement of the nursing portfolio.
  • Undertake ongoing monitoring and assessment of the delivery of nursing care in the Hospital.
  • Ensure that patient care is delivered in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Conduct daily quality rounds in nursing units and makes recommendations to unit managers or team leader in charge.
  • Identify trends following daily quality rounds and develop action plans to manage the trends identified.
  • Responsible for the immediate supervision and mentoring of the Nursing Unit Managers, in charge of the nursing departments.
  • Contribute to determining parameters for nursing audit activities, implementing and monitoring taking appropriate action as required.
  • Build strong relationships with doctors to ensure a strong communication link remains as open as possible to enable needs to be met and problems identified and resolved as swiftly as possible.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer and Nursing Director.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science / Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Nursing Management and/or Nursing Education (advantageous).
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
  • Minimum 5 years proven leadership and senior nursing management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ private hospital experience (not obligatory by preferred).
  • Mixed specialty nursing experience i.e. at least work experience on medical, surgical, maternity, and paediatric units.
  • Understanding of legislation and regulations relating to healthcare and the nursing profession.
