Applications Support Officer

Role Summary:
The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day support, administration and maintenance of the Clinical and Non-clinical applications used by the Hospital.

  • Liaise with external consultants and suppliers in respect of technical issues. 
  • Liaise with suppliers for the turnaround and resolution of any support queries raised ensuring they are logged and tracked appropriately.
  • Discuss complex IT data/issues with other members of the IT Department and third-party support staff to identify and resolve problems. 
  • Provide specialist training to members of the IT Department and training to other staff when required. 
  • Monitor the system housekeeping activities and ensure timely resolution of any queries raised by the IT helpdesk that need further investigation.
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures to ensure correct use of the system ensuring all staff groups adhere to them. 
  • Investigate any reported cases of system misuse or data inaccuracy and recommend actions to resolve. 
  • Use the IT Department’s HelpDesk system to report system issues. 
  • Perform webmaster duties for the Hospital. 
  • Conduct other system administration activities as required. 

Education and Experience: 

  • First degree in computer science or equivalent. 
  • 2+ years of experience within a technical support environment, including Database Administration and other software experience. 
  • Ability to develop JSON and REST APIs.
  • Microsoft or related professional certification especially on MS SQL is ideal. 
  • Proven ability to resolve problems efficiently and effectively.
