Senior Paramedic
Role Summary:
The role is responsible for providing advanced pre-hospital care to patients in emergency situations. The jobholder ensures that medical protocols and standards are followed and that patients receive prompt and effective treatment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergency calls and provide advanced medical care to patients at the scene, during transport, and at healthcare facilities.
- Lead and supervise a team of paramedics, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Assess patients’ medical conditions and administer appropriate interventions, such as advanced airway management, medication administration, and cardiac monitoring.
- Perform advanced life support procedures, including defibrillation, intravenous therapy, and advanced trauma management, in accordance with medical protocols and guidelines.
- Coordinate with other emergency response agencies, such as fire departments, law enforcement, and hospital personnel, to ensure seamless collaboration and communication during emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate patient care documentation, including patient assessments, treatment interventions, and medical records, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current on best practices, medical advances, and safety protocols in pre-hospital care.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and performance evaluations to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of emergency medical services.
Education and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) from an accredited program.
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paramedic, with demonstrated proficiency in advanced life support procedures and pre-hospital care.
- Leadership experience in a paramedic or emergency medical services setting, with the ability to effectively lead and supervise a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills, with the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure in emergency situations.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and ethical conduct in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
